Lucknow | Date: 06.01.2026, A Meeting of the State Cabinet was held today at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow, chaired by the Honorable Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath.  All members of the Council of Ministers, including the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya, participated in the meeting.

He announced that the state government has approved measures to promote investment under the Uttar Pradesh Semiconductor Policy 2024. The state government has decided to provide special financial assistance to attract global investors in the semiconductor sector: special incentives will now be given on a 'case-to-case' basis for investments exceeding ₹3,000 crore.

The objective is to establish Uttar Pradesh as India's 'semiconductor hub'. The government will provide additional concessions considering the uniqueness of the projects and their potential for job creation.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that many important proposals related to the overall development of Uttar Pradesh, public welfare, good governance, and strengthening of infrastructure were discussed in detail and decisions were taken.

Shri Maurya said that the state government is committed to realizing the vision of a "Developed India" under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In this regard, proposals related to agriculture, rural development, employment generation, roads and transport, urban development, education, health, and investment promotion were approved in the cabinet meeting.

The Deputy Chief Minister clarified that the government's main objective is to provide employment to local youth: 100% reimbursement of the EPF (Employees' Provident Fund) contributions paid by companies for workers/employees who are residents of Uttar Pradesh will be provided by the state government. This provision will encourage industries to prioritize local talent.

He also informed that significant concessions will be given on electricity rates.  Considering that semiconductor production is an energy-intensive process, the Cabinet has decided to provide substantial relief on electricity bills: eligible units will be given a rebate of ₹2 per unit on electricity bills for the next 10 years. This will reduce production costs and make products from Uttar Pradesh competitive in the global market.  “Uttar Pradesh is no longer just an agrarian state, but is also becoming a hub for high-tech manufacturing. These decisions regarding the semiconductor policy will create millions of indirect jobs in the state and write a new chapter in the industrial revolution.”

He informed that the meeting laid special emphasis on the development of infrastructure in rural and urban areas, expansion of rural livelihoods and employment opportunities, effective implementation of farmer-friendly schemes, improvement in road safety and connectivity, and making the functioning of departments related to public service more transparent and accountable.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government's priority is to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the last person in line in a timely and qualitative manner. For this, departments have been instructed to work in coordination with each other, conduct regular reviews of projects, and ensure effective monitoring at the ground level.

Positive decisions were also taken in the meeting on promoting investment, smooth functioning of industrial units, expansion of skill development programs for youth, and issues related to women's empowerment.  Additionally, necessary guidelines were issued after reviewing upcoming events and administrative preparations.

Finally, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the double-engine government is continuously working with the goal of making Uttar Pradesh the leading state in the country, and the decisions taken in today's cabinet meeting will give new momentum to the state's progress.
