During a press conference held today at the Circuit House in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya praised the Union Budget 2026-27, calling it "historic and all-encompassing," and thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Finance Minister for taking concrete steps towards a 'Developed India'.
'AVGC Content Creator Labs' will be established in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges for youth in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities through 'Corporate Mitra' and skill centers, with an allocation of ₹5,000 crore for City Economic Regions (CERs). 1.5 lakh care providers will be trained for medical and allied care services for the elderly.
Shri Maurya said that a fiscal deficit target of 4.3% of GDP has been set, relief has been provided to the middle class, and provisions have been made to increase the availability of 20,000 veterinary professionals and provide loan assistance for the establishment of veterinary colleges in the private sector to increase the income of farmers. Public capital expenditure has been increased to ₹12.2 lakh crore. A ship repair center will be established in Varanasi-Patna, and 7 new 'growth-connector' high-speed rail corridors (such as Delhi-Varanasi, Mumbai-Pune) will be developed between major cities of the country.
An investment of ₹10,000 crore has been allocated for the biopharma sector, and ₹40,000 crore has been provided for the Indian Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and the Electronics Component Scheme. A ₹10,000 crore 'SME Growth Fund' and a ₹2,000 crore 'Self-Reliant India Fund' top-up have been announced. Rural areas will be strengthened by promoting food processing and value addition. Deep-tech, AI, and manufacturing startups will be prioritized. Design, fabrication, and packaging have been promoted under Semiconductor Mission 2.0, with an estimated public support of over ₹40,000 crore.
