Opposition is issueless, questioning the impartiality of the Election Commission is unfortunate: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya

Post

Keshav Prasad Maurya stated that when the opposition starts losing elections, it sometimes blames EVMs and sometimes the Election Commission. The public knows who is working for their rights and who is merely spreading confusion.

The key points of the statement are as follows:

•     Opposition lacks issues: The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the opposition is currently completely without issues. Having lost the public's trust, they are now looking for excuses to blame constitutional institutions for their defeat. Complaints of names being deleted from voter lists are merely a desperate attempt to hide their failure.

•     Impartiality of the Election Commission: Mr. Maurya clarified that the Election Commission of India is an independent and impartial constitutional body. The Commission treats all political parties equally. Alleging bias at the government or at any level is not only baseless but also against the dignity of democracy.

•     Praising the integrity of employees: Defending the officers and employees engaged in election work, he said that all staff working under the Commission are working day and night with complete integrity and transparency. Questioning their hard work is tantamount to demoralizing the thousands of employees who are engaged in strengthening democracy.

•     Purity is paramount in democracy: The Deputy Chief Minister concluded by saying that the BJP government has always been in favor of fair elections and the preservation of democratic values. The opposition should abandon negative politics and discuss development issues.
