A crucial review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Rural Roads Development Agency was held today at the government residence in Lucknow, chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya.

During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed deep concern regarding the quality, timely construction, and maintenance of rural roads in the state and gave clear instructions to the officials that the transformation of rural roads is among the top priorities of the state government.

He emphasized that 100% utilization of the budget provided by the central and state governments must be ensured, and any negligence at any level will not be tolerated.

He directed that foundation stone laying and inauguration ceremonies be organized to expedite the implementation of all newly approved schemes in all districts.

The Deputy Chief Minister instructed that strict legal action be taken against contractors who compromise on quality or cause unnecessary delays in their work.  He also directed that such contractors be blacklisted from future tenders.

He laid special emphasis on strengthening the scientific testing of road quality by utilizing carbon dating technology. The Deputy Chief Minister stated that this modern technology will enable the assessment of the actual age and quality of the materials used in road construction, thereby ensuring transparency and accountability.

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed the officials to regularly monitor all projects, increase field inspections, and ensure that the goal of providing safe, durable, and high-quality roads to the rural population is achieved in a timely manner.

At the end of the meeting, he reiterated that the intention of the double-engine government is to give new impetus to development in rural areas through improved connectivity, and for this, all concerned officers should work with complete dedication and commitment.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Rural Development Smt. Vijayalakshmi Gautam, Principal Secretary Rural Development Shri Saurabh Babu, Rural Development Commissioner Shri Gauri Shankar Priyadarshi, Chief Executive Officer Shri Ankur Kaushik, and other senior officials.
