Keshav Prasad Maurya has allocated these funds for a total of 499 Honorable Members across both Houses of the Legislature (the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council). Against the total strength of 403 members in the Legislative Assembly, a first installment totaling ₹100,000.00 Lakhs (₹10 Billion)—calculated at a rate of ₹250.00 Lakhs per member—is proposed for the 400 currently serving members (with 3 seats remaining vacant). Similarly, against the total strength of 100 members in the Legislative Council, the allocation stands at ₹250.00 Lakhs per member for the 99 currently serving members (with 1 seat remaining vacant). In the Budget for the financial year 2026-27, an annual provision of ₹500.00 Lakhs (₹5 Crores) per member has been made for development activities within the constituencies of members from both Houses. In accordance with the guiding principles, 50 percent of this total allocation (₹2.50 Crores) has been sanctioned as a first installment, amounting to approximately ₹124,750.00 Lakhs (₹1,247.50 Crores).
Mr. Maurya directed officials to utilize the sanctioned funds on a priority basis for public utility works related to roads, drinking water, drainage systems, community buildings, education, and healthcare, thereby ensuring that the general public derives direct benefits.
He stated that the State Government accords the highest priority to public welfare initiatives, and with the cooperation of elected representatives, development works across the state's villages and cities are being given fresh momentum. This initiative will facilitate the swift implementation of development schemes at the local level and bring about positive changes in the standard of living of ordinary citizens.
