In Agra, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya reviewed development works; taking a strict stance on complaints regarding the 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme, he issued directives for an inquiry
During his visit to Agra district today, Mr. Keshav Prasad Maurya conducted a detailed review of the government's public welfare schemes, development works, and law and order situation in a meeting with administrative officials at the Circuit House. During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister took a stern stance regarding the sluggish progress of public welfare schemes and the complaints received concerning them, issuing directives to officials to fix accountability.
**Strong Reprimand for the Jal Nigam's Negligence:** Public representatives present at the review meeting lodged complaints regarding serious irregularities in the implementation of the 'Har Ghar Jal Yojana' (Water to Every Household Scheme) by the Jal Nigam (Water Corporation). It was reported that the roads and lanes dismantled for laying pipelines have not been restored to the required quality standards, causing severe inconvenience to the general public in their daily commute.
Taking immediate cognizance of this matter, the Deputy Chief Minister issued the following directives:
**Formation of a Special Investigation Team:** A team comprising district-level officials is to be constituted immediately to conduct an inquiry across 10 Gram Sabhas (village councils) in each of Agra's 06 rural assembly constituencies (totaling 60 Gram Sabhas).
**Technical Audit:** The inquiry must verify whether the pipelines have been laid at a depth of 01 meter underground, in strict adherence to prescribed standards.
**Road Restoration:** A physical inspection of the quality of restoration work carried out on roads, lanes, and paved pathways is to be conducted, and a comprehensive report prepared.
**Action Against Culprits:** Strict legal action is to be ensured against the concerned agencies responsible for executing substandard work.
**Review of Law and Order and Development Works:** The Deputy Chief Minister issued directives to maintain the prescribed timelines and quality standards for the various development projects currently underway in the district. He unequivocally stated that the government's objective is to deliver benefits to the person standing at the "last rung of the ladder" with a policy of "zero tolerance"; consequently, any negligence at any level will not be tolerated. While reviewing the law and order situation, he instructed police officials to prioritize crime control and public grievance redressal.
**Distinguished Presence at the Meeting:** The meeting was graced by the presence of the Honorable Union Minister Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), including Dr. G.S. Mr. Dharmesh, Mr. Purushottam Khandelwal, Mr. Chhotelal Verma, Mr. Bhagwan Singh Kushwah, MLC Mr. Vijay Shivhare, Mayor Mrs. Hemlata Diwakar Kushwah, State General Secretary Mr. Ram Pratap Chauhan, BJP District President Mr. Prashant Pauniya, and City President Mr. Rajkumar Gupta were present.
At the administrative level, Police Commissioner Mr. Deepak Kumar, District Magistrate Mr. Arvind Mallappa Bangari, and CDO Mrs. Pratibha Singh were present, along with senior officials from various departments.
